The Royal George Hotel Golf Tour

On a Royal George golfing tour we offer our guests a high quality accommodation in the heart of Scotland, with the opportunity to play some of finest golf courses our country has on offer - removing the hassle of booking tee times, arranging transport, and reading maps!

Based at the Royal George for the duration of your stay allows guests to spend less time travelling, packing, unpacking, checking in and out of hotels, with more time to relax, enjoy your golf, and sample some of the finer aspects of Scottish culture.

Not only do we offer an impressive selection of golf courses, there is also the historic tour, the whisky trail and an evening at new Perth Concert Hall or highly acclaimed Perth Theatre, all built into you package. These are all backed by the professional services of our sister company Royal George Carriages, chauffeur driving you to and from all of your destinations during your stay.

Sample Golf Tour

Day One
Arrive Edinburgh or Glasgow International Airport where you will be met by Royal George Carriages and transported to the Royal George Hotel, Perth. Around one hour drive north of the airport. Check in at the hotel and table d’hôte dinner in the evening.

Day Two
Transported by Royal George Carriages East to Dundee.  

Morning: Downfield Golf Course is rated as one of the finest inland courses in the country, and was chosen as a qualifying venue for the 1999 Open at Carnoustie. Gary player reckoned the 12th hole was one of the finest par 3’s he’d ever seen.

Collected by Royal George Carriages and returned to the hotel.

Afternoon: Free to explore the delights of the fair city of Perth. Why not take a walk along the Perth Promenade to the North Inch, along the banks of Scotland’s longest river the Tay, or wander down the quaint shopping streets of Perth.

Evening: Depending on your travel dates, we can arrange a trip to Perth Theatre or Perth Concert Hall to watch the latest productions. Both venues are a less than 5 minutes from the hotel.

Day Three
Transported by Royal George Carriages North East to Blairgowrie.  

Morning: Get off to a challenging start with a round on the Lansdowne Course. Designed by Peter Allis and Dave Thomas, the course is set in avenues of Silver Birch and Pine trees, with heather lined fairways.

Afternoon: Now you are warmed up, you’ll play the Rosemount Course. Designed by James Braid, with influences from Dr Alistair McKenzie, architect of the Augusta National Course, the Rosemount has hosted numerous professional tournaments. This was the scene of Greg Norman’s first European Tour victory.

Collected by Royal George Carriages and returned to the hotel.

Day Four
Transported by Royal George Carriages South to Gleneagles.

Morning: Choose to play either the PGA Centenary Course, the Kings Course or Queens Course, all set in magnificent grounds of the world famous Gleneagles Hotel. This is the chosen venue for the 2014 Ryder Cup. Truly magnificent golf courses set in wonderful scenery.

Afternoon: The Historic Scottish Tour. Visit the world famous Stirling Castle before heading to the Bannockburn Centre, scene of Robert The Bruce’s 1314 victory over the English.

Day Five
Transported by Royal George Carriages East to Carnoustie, where golf has been played for over 400 years!

Morning: The Burnside is not long by modern standards, but the 6020 yard course with a par of 68, is a fine test of golf, allowing you to fine tune your game before the excitement of the afternoon round!

Afternoon: Play the Carnoustie Championship Course. One of the worlds finest tests of golf, the venue for six Opens and numerous other national championships and of course the venue for the 2007 British Open. Carnoustie was the climax of Ben Hogan’s career - his last major win, won with possibly his best ever golf.

Day Six
Transported by Royal George Carriages West to Crieff.

Morning: Crieff’s Ferntower Course is laid out in such a way that the inclines are gradual, however with lush, generous fairways, working with the driver is advisable, otherwise the 6400 yards can prove rather stretching!

Afternoon: Collected by Royal George Carriages for your half-day whisky trail. Starting with to the award winning Famous Grouse Experience in Crieff, you will then visit Scotland’s Oldest Distillery, Glenturret, before driving through the scenic Sma’ Glen to the Dewars Distillery in Aberfeldy. Return to the Royal George.

Day Seven
Transported by Royal George Carriages East to St Andrews.

Morning: Play St Andrews Bay Devlin Course, a hidden gem designed by Bruce Devlin, this Championship Course sweeps its way along the rugged seaside landscape.

Afternoon: Spend a couple of hours visiting the sights of the ancient university town of St Andrews, - ideal for those last minute gifts and souvenirs in the world famous golfing centre.

Collected by Royal George Carriages and returned to the hotel.

Day Eight
Check out of the hotel. Transported by Royal George Carriages to Edinburgh or Glasgow International Airport.

Total cost £1300 per person sharing twins or double rooms
Non golfing cost £900 per person sharing twins or doubles

Please make sure to bring a handicap certificate which may be required prior to teeing of on some of the courses
